The following is a timeline of the corrective actions GFL has taken to address the recent odour issue.
November 14, 2024
Operating hours for landfill construction operations have been extended: Monday to Fridayfrom 7:00 am to 7:00 pm, and Saturday and Sunday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.
Waste relocation continues daily.
The GFL Stoney Creek Regional Facility has received 6 odour complaints from November 7th to November 13th.
The deodorizers continue to operate at three locations on the Site.
GFL continues to perform ongoing perimeter inspections for odour detection.
Three air monitoring units are operating around the Site to collect air quality data. These units are monitoring for TRS (Total Reduced Sulphur) can be found on the Hamilton Air Monitoring Network (HAMN) website at www.hamnair.ca.
The design and consultation of the new leachate pre-treatment facility continues to progress.
The date of the next Monthly Community Update Meeting (via Zoom) is still to be determined.

This website is specific to our operations at the Stoney Creek Regional Facility (SCRF) located at the northwest corner of Mud Street and Upper Centennial Parkway (Highway 20) in the community of upper Stoney Creek. The SCRF has been a fixture in the community since 1996, employs over 20 employees, and has contributed over $22 million dollars to community groups, sports and recreational programs, charitable initiatives and local infrastructure projects in Stoney Creek.
